Thanks for visiting Self Publishing Bookworks.
My name is Stan Hjerleid (pronounced “jurlid”), the “H” is silent.  I have a wide and varied career as an Electrical Engineer, Owner of two photography studios for 10 years, 3 years as an electronics instructor in a community college, 7 years as a Director of Education for a Trade School, and 15 years as an IT (Information Technology) specialist.

So why did I start Self Publishing Bookworks?  Well my wife is a budding romance writer.  I’ve watched her for 10 years as she went through the process of writing her “romance novels”. She went to writing seminars, met with local groups and eventually completed two romance novels.

During the process I watched as she submitted her manuscripts to publisher after publisher.  I also endured her disappointment with the never ending rejection letters.  Eventually, she had her novels accepted by two different publishing companies that promoted eBooks.

Her books were promoted by these companies and are on Amazon.  However, in my humble opinion the results were dismal.  The royalties she received were pathetic to say the least, on the order of 50 cents on a $4.99 book.

There has to be a  better way unless you are in the writing business simply as an ego trip.

About this time I started reading about self publishing, and the misconceptions surrounding self publishing.  The major publishers would like writers to be second class citizens and not know that there is a better way, a much better way.

This site isn’t for everyone.  I am here to help you get self published, and give you ideas on promoting your book.  I can help you get self published inexpensively.  You can search the internet and probably figure out how to do it yourself, if you have the necessary computer experience.  My main claim to fame is to help those that are not “techies”.  Most writers are right brain (creative, imaginative,emotional} and are not really into all this left brain (logical,analytical) computer stuff.  That’s where I come in.  I can show you how to prepare your manuscript for self publishing.  In the areas where you don’t have the necessary expertise, I can help you.

I will also work with you on the promotion.  I won’t do it all for you, you’ll have to do it for yourself.  But I can put you on the right track.  Take a look around the website and email me with any questions you may have on the Contact Me page.

As a self publishing marketer my main goal is to help authors and writers to relieve their frustration over a continuous stream of rejection letters, and get a book published in the next 15 to 30 days assuming they have a manuscript ready.  Does that sound good to you?
